The Emoji page is an advanced production tool in Obvio that allows you to display floating emojis on screen when your attendees click the corresponding emoji buttons on their event dashboards.
Here is how to set it up and use it:
- In your Obvio admin panel, go to the Production menu at the bottom and select Emoji page.
- From this settings area, you can customize the background of the page. You can leave it as a solid color (like black or green) for keying purposes, or you can upload a background image, such as your event logo.
- Click the View emojis button at the top to open the actual emoji display page in full screen.
- Whenever attendees click emojis on their dashboard, they will fly up on this specific page. Note that if attendees are not actively clicking buttons, the page will remain blank.
How to integrate it into your event: You can bring this page into your live feed in a couple of ways depending on your technical setup:
- Physical Screen: You can simply put this web page in full-screen mode on a physical TV monitor that sits in the background of your studio set.
- Video Switcher (OBS/ATEM): You can feed this page into a hardware or software video switcher (like an ATEM Mini or OBS). By using a solid black or green background on the emoji page, you can apply a Luma or Chroma key to remove the background and transparently overlay the floating emojis directly on top of your video feed.
What about the Demo Mode? The "demo mode" (also referred to as a "test emojis" button) is a highly requested feature designed to send a simulated flood of emojis for 10 to 30 seconds. This would allow hosts to test their video switchers or record promotional B-roll footage showing high audience engagement without needing actual people clicking buttons.
However, the demo mode is currently just a feature request and is not yet available in the platform. It has been added to the development wish list, but for now, the only way to test your emoji setup or record B-roll is to manually have friends or team members log into the dashboard and click the emoji buttons for you
