Overview
When GoHighLevel is connected to Obvio, attendees can be added to Obvio through a GoHighLevel tag. Obvio then creates a unique magic login link for each attendee and can write that link back to a custom field inside GoHighLevel.
This magic link can be used in GoHighLevel emails and automations so attendees can access their event dashboard.
If the integration is delayed, disconnected, or some contacts are missing their magic links, you can use the attendee export from Obvio as a manual backup. This allows you to update GoHighLevel in bulk instead of copying and pasting links one by one.
When to Use This Process
Use this process if:
- Some attendees did not receive their magic link
- The GoHighLevel connection had an issue or delay
- The magic link field in GoHighLevel was not updated
- You need to quickly update multiple contacts before an event
Before You Start
Make sure you have:
- Access to the correct event in Obvio
- Access to the correct GoHighLevel account or sub-account
- A custom field in GoHighLevel for the attendee magic link
- Matching attendee email addresses in both Obvio and GoHighLevel
The email address is important because it is usually the best way to match the Obvio attendee to the correct GoHighLevel contact during import.
Step 1: Confirm the Magic Link Field in GoHighLevel
Before importing the attendee CSV, make sure GoHighLevel has a contact custom field where the Obvio magic link will be stored.
You can name the field something clear, such as Obvio Magic Link or Event Login Link. This is the field where the attendee’s unique Obvio login URL will be saved.
If the field does not exist yet, create a new Contact custom field in GoHighLevel using the following setup:
- Field Type: Single Line
- Field Name: Any clear name you prefer, such as Obvio Magic Link or Event Login Link
- Folder: Contact
During the CSV import, map the Obvio magic link or login URL column to this field. Once saved, the field can be used in GoHighLevel emails and automations to send attendees their personal event login link.

Step 2: Export Attendees from Obvio
Next, export the attendee list from the correct Obvio event.
For detailed instructions on exporting contacts, you can refer to this help article: How to Export contacts
After exporting the file, review the CSV and confirm that it includes the attendee email addresses and the magic link or login URL column before importing it into GoHighLevel.
Step 3: Import the CSV into GoHighLevel
Once the attendee CSV is ready, import it into GoHighLevel.
- Log in to GoHighLevel.
- Go to Contacts.
- Click Import.
- Upload the CSV file exported from Obvio.
- Under Choose how to import contacts, select the option that matches what you need:
- Create contacts — use this if the contacts do not exist in GoHighLevel yet.
- Create and update contacts — use this if some contacts may already exist and you also want to add new ones.
- Update contacts — use this if the contacts already exist in GoHighLevel and you only want to update their fields.
For most cases, select Create and update contacts. This allows GoHighLevel to create new contacts and update existing contacts using the information from the CSV.
After selecting the import option, use the email address to match contacts and map the CSV columns to the correct GoHighLevel fields.
Example field mapping:
| CSV Column | GoHighLevel Field |
|---|---|
| First Name | First Name |
| Last Name | Last Name |
| Obvio Magic Link / Login URL | Your GoHighLevel magic link custom field |

NOTE: The most important step is mapping the login URL column to the custom field you created in GoHighLevel. In this example, we used Obvio Magic Link because that was the custom field created in Step 1.
Step 4: Confirm the Import Worked
After the import is complete:
- Open a contact in GoHighLevel.
- Check the custom field used for the Obvio magic link.
- Confirm that the field contains the attendee’s unique login URL.
- Repeat this check for a few contacts.

If the field is blank, the CSV column may not have been mapped correctly. Review the CSV and run the import again with the correct field mapping.
Step 5: Use the Magic Link in GoHighLevel Emails
Once the magic link is saved in GoHighLevel, you can add the custom field to confirmation emails, reminder emails, and event follow-up emails.
Example email copy:
Hi {{contact.first_name}},
Here is your personal event login link:
{{contact.obvio_magic_link}}
Please use this link to access your event dashboard.

NOTE: The exact merge field may be different depending on the custom field name created in GoHighLevel. Always send a test email first to confirm the link appears correctly.
Summary
GoHighLevel uses a tag to tell Obvio which contacts should be pulled into the event. Obvio then creates a magic login link for each attendee and can write that link back to a custom field in GoHighLevel.
If the automatic update does not work as expected, you can manually export attendees from Obvio and import the CSV into GoHighLevel. The key step is mapping the attendee’s login URL column to the correct custom field in GoHighLevel.
Once the magic link is stored on the GoHighLevel contact record, it can be used in emails and automations so attendees can access their event dashboard.
